By Apostle William K Korir,

Faith is believing things you do not see. For example if you are extremely broke and you have no expectation of earning some money until some times in future or not expecting anything at all. When you have hope that God will bless you and trust beyond reasonable doubt that you will receive money even where you do not have any anticipation - then this "FAITH". In the book of Jeremiah 29:11-13 it states that God has good plans for all of us and that whenever anyone prays to him He listens and provide the request. Jesus Christ had said if one has enormous faith, he/she will ask for anything and would receive.Jesus gave reference of Birds who have no store houses and yet they never go hungry because God takes care of their food provisions. Then Jesus said, human beings who were made in the image of God were more valuable than the birds and whatever they ask for in prayer God would readily provide them. Trust in God and have faith that God is listening to you and would answer your prayers. immediately you pray trust and believe that God has answered your prayers and you will surely receive it. The LORD God is Faithful.... He will answer all your needs.

By Apostle William Korir,

Fasting means taking a quite moment to seek the Load. we therefore move away from our daily lives to concentrate on heavenly matters. Fasting is done in order to have concentration in Spiritual matters and to in order to seek God to provide our special needs. The kind of fasting our God wants is to remove chains of the oppressed persons in our midst and the yoke of injustices, and to let the captives free. During fasting we are required to share food with the hungry and to open homes to the homeless poor. we ought to clothe those without clothes and to assists your own relatives. When we comply to the above, God's favour will shine on us like the morning sun, and our wounds will be quickly healed. God will always be with us to save us; His presence will protect us on every side. When we pray He will answer us. When we call to Him he will respond. If we put an end to oppression, to every gesture of contempt, and to every evil word; if we give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around us will turn to the brightness of noon, and God will always guide and satisfy us with good things. He will keep us strong and well. We will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never runs dry. Whenever we fast ensure we remain faithful and trust in God who will always honour His pledge to Bless us(Isaiah 58:6-11).

HOPE MINISTRIES WORLD IS TODAY'S VOICE OF HOPE TO THE WORLD. WE URGE PEOPLE TO COME TO JESUS AND RENEW THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH GOD! IT IS TIME THE WORLD TURN BACK TO GOD OUR SOURCE OF HOPE.

WOMAN'S CORNER: IT IS SIN TO GOSSIP

When my children were young we lived amongst a lot of families where we women were all having children or raising children. In the era before every household had 2 cars, we walked our older children to kindergarten or school together, pushing our young ones in prams or strollers. In fact, we called ourselves the “Pram Brigade!”

We looked forward to coming together twice a day to swap mothering tips, discuss household management, recipes and childbearing. High up on this list too were infant welfare visits, vaccinations and Baby’s latest milestone. This was the highlight of our day. And it was good.

But as often happens when women meet together regularly, a gradual overlapping of the boundaries of friendship and discretion slowly overtook us. A few mothers started gossiping about a neighbour who was not with us on a particular morning. Each woman tried to outdo the previous gossiper with another tidbit of “news” until the poor woman who was the unwilling topic of conversation had been badmouthed into a corner from which there was no escape.

I too was guilty of listening, for the morsels of gossip were indeed interesting- I let them slide down my throat easily, relishing the details which seemed to whet our appetites for more. By the time we reached the kindergarten, this woman’s housekeeping ability, mothering, integrity, morality and even marriage had come under some very expert dissection. We had not only gone through her home and family but had even figuratively been so bold as to enter the marital bed, discussing things that were a matter only between our friend and her husband.

Suddenly by lunchtime, my absent friend of the morning had become a stranger- a sad figure who obviously had no redeeming points in her life and who was in fact, a person to avoid like the plague. Furthermore, I was suffering from a bad case of indigestion, with the morsels of gossip stuck in my chest accompanied by a vague sense of sadness and guilt.

Not yet a Christian, I never thought to pray, but a sense of injustice towards my friend who was the victim of a character assassination was developing, and I found myself grieving for her and our lost friendship.

Women can be the cattiest creatures alive. Just a few words can set a bushfire blazing with horrendous results. For the friend who was the victim of this gossiping session, obviously felt something was different the next morning when she took her children to school with us. And there was indeed something different. A bushfire had erupted and there was no putting out its flames!

Each of us had suffered not only a bad case of indigestion overnight, mulling over lumps of gossip, but those things which were shared had managed to force a wedge between us and this woman. We felt such guilt that we felt uncomfortable with her and she could sense this. Some women tried to compensate by being over friendly and we all came across as false. Gradually to the increased discomfort of our maligned friend, we became less verbiose, and our wicked loose tongues at last ran out of things to say.

So when at the end of the week our friend announced she was taking her husband to work each morning and then driving the children to school, we all felt that now familiar pang of guilt and regret. We all knew we did not deserve to call ourselves her friend after that morning. And we never did recover her friendship.

The Morning Of The Gossip heralded the demise of other close friendships too. For each of us in our hearts knew that when women start gossiping you could very well be the next object of interest. Gradually the morning conversations became more formal, with no one ready to be open about anything that was precious to us. Our sense of camaraderie slowly evaporated. And the walks seemed to take forever.

30 years down the track, a lot of water has passed under the bridge. I have become a Christian and have learnt the Truth- that God hates gossip and maligning another person. I have repented and try hard not to gossip or listen to it. Whenever I think of my former friend, I wonder where she is and how she is. I wonder how her children turned out and if her marriage survived. I wonder if she overcame her weaknesses and if she regained her health.

And I pray for her. I pray that she reached out to God and found Him. I pray that she has found some true friends that have come alongside her and really supported her. I pray for my other former friends too, that they may have not only taken some antacid for their indigestion that day, but realised the cause of it. I pray that God has taken each one of us through this sad time and taught us the lesson of a loose tongue. And I pray that He in His mercy, stamped out the fire we created and sheltered that needy woman from its flames.

I pray that God will see my tears as I write this: tears of sorrow and warning for those of us compelled to speak things of others that we should not. Let my tears help put out the fires of yesterday and bring healing to my friend.

James 3:1-6 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, [and] able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though [they be] so great, and [are] driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned abouth with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

WOMAN'S CORNER - A WOMAN'S PLACE

A Woman's Place
By Donna MortonBAN “Little Women”?!I was appalled when, several years ago, a feminist group wanted to do just that to Louisa May Alcott’s treasured classic. The book, they said, diminished young women, played-up the “weaker sex” mentality and failed to empower girls to sculpt their dreams.EXCUSE ME?Clearly, the advocates of this book barbeque had never taken the time to read Little Women. Had they savored its pages, they would have known that its heroine, Jo March, was about as wimpy as a category four hurricane. This spirited, tomboyish teen left her father’s home and moved to New York to become a journalist. She helped establish a school and joined her mother and sisters to weather illness, death, the Civil War, and genteel poverty. Heaven help the girl—she even dared to cut off her long tresses of hair. If Ms. Alcott was attempting to tell young women what “their place” in this world is, well…You go, girl! There’s another book that people are quick to condemn, calling it an archaic work that seeks to “keep women in their place”, locked in an eternal state of second-class citizenship. The Bible. Its opponents claim that The Old Testament especially rates a woman’s value just a hair above that of a farm animal. They imply that if a man had to choose between the life of his wife or his sturdiest ox, it could— quite possibly—come down to a crapshoot. Well, once again, critics want to bonfire a book they—obviously—have never taken the time to read. Let’s study some of our Biblical sisters and determine just how suppressed these faith-filled gals really were. Deborah and Jael—These two should’ve been draped in bronze stars for the roles they played in delivering the Israelites from Canaanite oppression. Deborah—prophetess, judge and military leader of the Israelites—rode into battle and helped defeat the Canaanite army. When its general ran for his life, he met up with Jael, a woman who showed him there was more than one use for a tent peg. Her bravery is immortalized in Judges 5:24-27.Esther. Today, she’d be a frequent guest on Fox News. Blessed with the coveted combo of beauty and brains, this young Jewess led her people through political conspiracy, her actions preventing the Jews from being massacred in a plot to annihilate them. Esther got her own book in the Bible. Now, call me crazy, but these don’t sound like suppressed women. They sound more like…Super Women. Women whose faith in a Sovereign God was rewarded with triumph and exhortation. According to the Bible, career women are nothing new. Already mentioned, Deborah was a judge and a military leader. Like her, Miriam, Huldah and Anna were also prophetess’, completely trusted by God to declare His word. Ruth and Naomi sold real estate, Sheerah founded two cities and Abishag was a nurse. Phoebe and Pricilla played key roles in ministry, Zeruiah built a great warrior dynasty and Lydia was a clothing designer. The daughters of Zelophehad petitioned for equality and were rewarded by God. And let’s not forget the many Biblical women who excelled in the most influential profession of all—motherhood. What does this tell us? It tells us that God had women utilizing their gifts, talents and brain power long before feminists had them burning their bras. God worked through women who radiated faith, strength, honesty and grace, women whose inspiration carries over to today. Among others, Sarah, Hannah and Elizabeth showed us that all things are possible with God. Leah is a comfort, teaching that God rains blessings even when the world is stingy with favoritism. Eunice, Timothy’s mother, is a great model for raising children to know and serve the Lord. And Mary Magdalene, freed from seven demons, is a testament to the breathtaking beauty of …Amazing Grace. It’s through such women that we can gather hope, that we can know there are solutions to our life situations if we seek God’s will. So…the Bible’s author—a chauvinist?I think LIBERATOR better describes Him. And in no greater way did He demonstrate this than by sending His son into the world. Because of Jesus, the chasm that separates humankind from God can be bridged, allowing for a personal, one-on-one relationship with the creator of the universe and everything beyond. Talk about liberation! God never offered it more than He did through Jesus! Jesus, who called men His brothers and gave women equal billing when he called them His sisters.Jesus, who values women so much that he commanded men to love their wives the way He loved the church.Jesus, who inspired the writing, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to that promise.” Galatians 3: 26-29.Clearly, Jesus was “woman-friendly”. He counted Martha and her sister Mary among His dearest friends. He welcomed women to travel with His ministry. Luke 8: 2-3 speaks of them—Mary Magdalene, Susanna, Joanna and “many others.”The New Testament tells of women approaching Jesus for healing, to ask questions about the faith, to offer hospitality when he was weary from His travels. We must conclude, then, that Jesus’ demeanor was approachable, that women knew they would not be admonished, ordered to pick up their scrub brushes and get back in their places. When Jesus was resurrected, He could have first shown Himself to anyone of his choosing—his disciples, Pontius Pilate or the most arrogant of the soliders who carried out His crucifixion.Instead, the first person to see the risen Lord was Mary Magdalene. That’s right, a woman was the first to say, “I have seen the Lord!” That’s a huge deal considering that her Lord was Jesus Christ—whose birth, life, death and resurrection fulfilled over 300 prophecies; whose own prophecies are being fulfilled today, right before our eyes; whose life and teachings have had more influence and brought more positive change than anyone else in history; whose story and promises have been the subject of more writing, music and art than anyone else to live; whose many works and miracles have never been matched. Hmmmm…looks to me like God has worked through women at some of the most incredible moments in history. Looks to me like God has always come through for women. Sure, Biblical times saw its share of discrimination, suppression and persecution of women—just as we see it today. That, however, is not a God-thing. It’s a human-thing. God has never been the one who had “issues” with women, though critics of His word say otherwise. I think the critics have “issues” with God, and that should disturb those who are seeking a God who recognizes a woman’s worth. For those searching, know that the God you desire is here. He always has been, ready to touch every facet of your life and celebrate you as the diamond that you are.“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)And if the Bible is attempting to show women what “their place” in this world is, well…You go, God!
