And the Lord said, my Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he is also is flesh, yes his days shall be an hundred and twenty (120 years) Genesis 6:3,
When God created the earth and all its hosts, he saw that what he had made was good. He placed Adam and Eve at the Garden of Eden and blessed them to multiply. He had given them all types of fruits for food and told them to tend the garden and live happily. God had preserved one tree and had instructed Adam not to eat the fruits of the forbidden tree as it was for k knowledge of good and evil.
Adam told his wife Eve of God’s guidance and they were not to go near the tree. The forbidden tree was to act as a covenant between God and man. God had told Adam, the day to eat the fruits of the forbidden tree you will surely die. One day Eve wondered away from Eve and found herself standing before the forbidden tree and soon she heard some voice on top of the tree, calling her by her name. She noticed a serpent on top of the tree speaking to her and she was impressed with the manner the serpent spoke. The snake misrepresented God and talked contrary to the plan of God. Eve soon found herself engaged in intense discussion with the serpent, arguing on spiritual matters.
She ate the fruit of the forbidden tree and took some to Adam who also ate and their eyes were opened. They sinned against God and therefore died spiritually, and later physically, when Cain struck his brother Abel on the head killing him instantly.
Following their sins Adam and Eve lost their home of comfort and they were sent away to go and sweat it out in the field. Flood gates of sin brought pain and death to planet earth. Seth represented the children of God, while Cain represented the people of the world.
Sin spread across the earth like bush fire, and soon it was covering the whole world. God saw a good man called Enoch whom he walked with for 300 years before taking him to heaven.
God saw that men’s hearts continued to harden and were never repentant of their sins. They continued to rebel against God endlessly, and God’s heart was grieved and wanted to destroy the whole world. He however wanted to give them a chance before destroying it. God sent a faithful man named Noah whom he instructed to build an Ark, and he was to spread the end time message to all corners to the world, to repent of their sins and enter the Ark in order to be saved.
People of those days mocked Noah;
They laughed at him and cracked jokes at Noah’s expense saying;
Noah, have you seen any one building such an enormous boat?
Where will you lounge it?
Who will be your Captain?
Some jeered and sneered at him, saying he had gone nuts...
Noah never gave up hope... He preached undeterred as he braved the adverse weather challenges.
Despite his warning, people mad e him a laughing stock in the neighbourhood.
At last only Noah with his family members with their wives entered the ark and the entire world perished.
When the Society turns away from God, we do not know what its end point will be.
Men and women during the time of Noah had reasoned;
Who needs that God of Noah?
In the book of Genesis Chapter 4, it is clear that the people of those days had great civilisation with arts, music and culture. There was great prosperity and industry in the land.
Mankind had developed; Cities were being build and riches being gathered.
There was fantastic life span running into 800’s and above.
To them death seemed to be far away in the future
Men were not only prosperous, they had cultural enjoyments and amusements; marvellous music and the rest of it.
They had reasoned that if there was God, why hadn’t he punished them?
God is merciful, patient and long suffering.
He gives men and women space and time to repent, even when they sin again and again as we have always done.
We have broken our promises before God and have committed sins of all kinds; but God still holds back his hand. He strives with us, pleads with us, reasons with us (Isaiah 1:18, 19).
Are you going to yield and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?
Will you recognise the corruption and sinfulness of your heart and the Holiness of the living God?
God says my Spirit shall not always strive with man,
God sets before you, his son, the Lord Jesus Christ and he does this in the midst of corruption, wickedness and adulterous generation in order to provide you with a way of escape.
He offers you peace, pardon for sins, reconciliation with God and a home in heaven when you die.
If you turn away from your sinful ways and accept Jesus as your Personal Saviour all the blessings that come from God are yours. This is because those people who mocked Noah found out far much too late that there was no life outside the Ark when the rains came.
Accept Jesus NOW! In order to be saved from eternal damnation.
God Bless you as you make a step towards the Cross of Jesus. Amen
