Israel the LORD who created you says, " Do not be afraid - I will save you. I have called you by name - you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. when you pass through fire, you will not be burnt; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the LORD your GOD, the Holy God of Israel, who saves you. Isaiah 43:1-3.
GOD rejected King Saul for being a weak leader. He lacked firmness in his leadership and his reasoning lacked in content.
He could did not understand the consequence of disobeying the deity. He had been instructed to fight the enemy and to exterminate them completely and to destroy all their property including their possessions; livestock and other riches. They were not to carry anything back home with them.
Indeed King Saul went and fought overwhelmed all the armies of the inhabitants of Canaan. He fought Amalekites but his strategy changed. He only destroyed what was useless or worthless and he killed all the people except their King - Agag. Saul took their hostage plus all the fat cows and sheep back to the City.
God was displeased with King Saul's action and he sent prophet Samuel to take the judgement message to the King.

When the prophet came to the King and inquired why he had disobeyed God, the King denied having disobeyed God and blamed his army men for disobeying God. He tried to justify their action by alleging that the animals brought would be sacrificed to God.
The PROPHET said to King Saul; "Which does the Lord prefer: obedience or offerings and sacrifices? it is better to obey him than to offer sacrifice to GOD of the best sheep, saying; Rebellion against Him was as bad as witchcraft, and arrogance is as sinful as idolatry. Because you rejected the LORD'S COMMAND, he has rejected you as King." I Samuel 15:1-23.
As we enter into the year 2010; your desire should be to OBEY THE LORD JEHOVAH GOD - who created you and gave you life. Do noit be afraid for whatever you are going through - for GOD Jehovah loves you so much and has great plans to prosper you, giving you hope and a future! Isaiah 43 : 5, Jeremiah 29:11-13.
